I am really excited to start blogging and sharing my experiences, emotions, and thoughts with you all.
Tonight, I was going through my old emails and came across an email that brought back so many emotions that
I had pushed back over the last couple of months. I have a story to tell much like most of you do, I am sure. And, someday
I will share it with all of you. But, for now, it is still one I am living in and healing from.
As I was reading through my old emails tonight, I realized that I have found in my
weakest moments that I am the strongest because I have no on else to turn to but the Lord. Who is really going to
understand your innermost feelings when you are going through something so painful? Maybe you are going through
something that you can't even share with someone yet. That was how mine was. It was a few months before I even
shared it with Rachel. As I went through my weakest moment I sought the Lord and asked Him to give me scripture as
something to cling to that showed me I would be alright. I want to give you a verse today, one that can help you know that
no matter what you are facing today, He is there and yes....you will make it through. My verse through the hard times
was Joshua 1:9:
"Be strong and courageous.Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you
wherever you go."
I loved and love this verse because it is a constant reminder that everything I go through and every place I find
myself, God is there and I have no reason to fear. My prayer for you today is that you will find strength in
the Lord and find hope and encouragement in His word. I do.

From Rachel's Heart...

Yesterday, I came down to visit Wendy for a couple of days and am writing this from her house in the wee hours of the morning. I
woke up around 4am for some reason and just could not go back to sleep, so I figured I'd blog for a second. What I was struck by this
morning is how great it is that God created friendship. For many years, I have studied relationships and
what being connected to others means for your psychological and physical health. And, through my academic publications and research, I
have shown what God has already told us: being connected to others is good for you. Do you have a friend who you can be silly with,
serious with, sincere with? Someone who supports you, sharpens you, and points you towards the Lord when you need her to?
I hope you do because if you do, you know how wonderful it is to have someone in your life who can help you journey through. And,
if you do, thank God for her. Also, thank her today for being a part of your life and for everything it means to have her.
And, if you don't, then pray that the Lord sends someone to you who can be this type of friend for you. And, while you are waiting for
the Lord to send this special person, try to be the type of friend who God describes throughout Proverbs: one who is faithful,
provides wise counsel, and loves at all times. In doing so, you may find the type of friend that you are seeking...your spiritual sister.
