"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
~II Corinthians 12: 9-10

God is My Strength
September 11, 2009
"It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect." ~Psalm 18:32
Today is September 11th and I am sure we all will be reflecting on where we were 8 years ago on 9-11. I vividly remember where I was when I saw the planes fly into the first World Trade Center building. My husband and I were living in Knoxville, Tennessee at the time and I have a clear memory of our bedroom where I was watching the Today Show. And, I recall watching the first plane and second plane fly into the buildings.
In addition to remembering the tragic events, I also remember the images of people helping each other. I remember hearing stories of individuals who disregarded their own personal safety to help others. And, stories of incredible emotional and physical strength during and after the events of the day.
Isn't it amazing how tragedy brings out our strength? Makes me think of Psalm 18. In the beginning of this chapter, David speaks of the tragedy, destruction, and distress that surrounded him and that he called out to God to save him. And, He did. And, as he says in verse 32, "It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect."
Several of you have shared your stories with us since we launched this site last week. And, in each one, we have heard how God gave you strength. We are going to start featuring one story each week, starting next week. And, like David's story, you will see how God arms us with strength. He is our strength.
