Facing Our Giants

I was reminded recently of the story of David and Goliath. Most of us know that story. David is a young teenager and goes up against this big giant. The story is found in I Samuel 17. The thing I have been thinking about is not so much Goliath, but the giants that are in our own lives. We all have them. Maybe for you it is the fear of doing something that you feel is more than you can do, maybe it is low self-esteem, or a habitual sin that you have. See, the problem is we sometimes look at the giants in our lives and think their just to big to conquer, so we continue in whatever the giants are and let them control our life.

When you look in I Samuel 17:45, it tells us that David told Goliath that he was coming against him in the name of the Lord. Then, in verse 48, it tells us that David ran quickly to the front line to meet up with Goliath. He wasn�t afraid of Goliath; he knew the Lord was with him. Do we believe that the Lord is with us? Are we ready to race up to our giant and tell him that we are coming in the name of the Lord and defeat him? I know that these questions are tough. I am not saying that facing our giants is an easy thing. What I do know is that when we do face our giants and conquer them wow�what a great feeling, a feeling of victory. When we have a victory and other Christians see that it encourages them to face their giants and be determined to conquer them and live a victorious life.

"David said to the Philistine, �You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defiled.???"
