Today's Devotional Thought

In Everything Give Thanks
I recently spent time with someone who, to be honest, had a lot to be sad about. I listened to them as they spoke about their life and all the reasons that they had to be grateful. I then listened to them as they prayed and they seemed to thank God for the smallest things in their lives. I felt so guilty as I left. How quick are we to complain if we don’t have the right shoes for our outfit, or enough money for that Coach bag, or enough money to buy that expensive car we want or that big house? When do we stop to thank God that we have a house, clothes, shoes and a car to drive? We just seem to be so wrapped up in stuff and how it makes us look if we don’t have what everyone else has.
I think that when we change our focus and become grateful and content with what God has given us, it can really change our prayer life. I believe that as we acknowledge the blessings in our lives it will draw us closer to the Lord. It is so important for us to see all the blessings in our lives. I know that we all have things in our lives that we struggle with and they seem like they will never go away. But, please don’t let that be your focus! Change your focus to all the blessings. God is so good to us and He gives us good things. Stop today and make a list of all the things that you have to be thankful for. Once you do that, let someone know what you are grateful for. If you are thankful for a friend or family member why don’t you call them up and let them know that today!
