Verse of the Day

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Search Me

Have you ever had a time in your walk with the Lord that you felt nothing? This could be the result of many things. It could be that there is unconfessed sin in you life. Perhaps it is that you are preoccupied with other things in your life that make it difficult for you to focus on your relationship with the Lord and setting time aside for Him. Maybe it is that you haven’t taken time to “be still.” It is so important that we sit still. When will we hear the Lord speaking if we never slow down and listen?

Many of us are living Christian lives where we are serving others, we’re involved in the church and in our communities, and we feel very fulfilled in our Christian walk. We are happy but yet when we spend time with the Lord we feel dissatisfied, like maybe something is missing. If many of you are honest with yourself, you know exactly what I am talking about. I’ve thought a lot about this and I’ve asked myself why. I know that unconfessed sin will put a wall between us and God. When we take the time to search our hearts and pray to God and know that our hearts are right before Him, we may then see that the problem isn’t sin or the lack of spending time with Him. Because, we probably are spending time with Him. But, even still, we have gone from the mountaintop where we have felt all the excitement and joy to being in a time in our relationship where that joy and excitement is gone. We need to realize that just like our relationship with others in our lives, our relationship with the Lord may experience those times when we don’t feel the excitement.

Remember today that when we feel our relationship with the Lord has lost it’s excitement, it doesn’t mean that anything is wrong. We just need to continue to spend time with Him and meditate on his word and we will be back on that spiritual mountain again soon.

Memorize this verse today:

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
~Psalm 139:23-24
