Verse of the Day

"Blessed be the God… of all comfort who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted."

~2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Today's Devotional Thought

Bumps and Bruises

I’ve decided this week to do my devotions on comfort. This first devotional I just want to kind of relate our scrapes and bruises in our childhood to what we experience today in life.

Think about being a small child, and if you were accident prone you will be able to relate to this very well. Whenever you would fall down and scrape your knee you would go running into the house crying and your mom would get a band aide and some medicine and make it feel better. What did most moms or dads do when they put the medicine on??? They would blow on it and for some reason that just made it feel better. It was almost like you could feel mom or dad blowing love into that scrape and the pain just going away.

Think about when we fall down in life and we get scraped, bruised and beat up. Who do we go to when that happens?? We should be going to our heavenly Father. I love thinking about Him hugging us and getting out those spiritual band aides and putting on that medicine, which by the way sometimes stings, but then He blows a little bit of comfort on those scrapes and bruises and ever so gently hugs us and sends us on our way.

The more bumps and bruises I get in life the more I’ve come to realize that we need to go to the Lord and allow Him to comfort us during our times of pain and hurt, bumps and bruises and then by moving forward we can help others to understand and see the love and comfort that they can receive from the Father in heaven who truly does love them.

Memorize this verse today:

"Blessed be the God… of all comfort who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted."
~2 Corinthians 1:3-4
