Today's Devotional Thought

Seek Him First
This verse, in the context of the chapter, is really speaking on things that you need in life. Our everyday needs: food and clothing. I’ve thought about this verse so many times and this week it was the memory verse of the ladies bible study that I am leading. Everyday I would look at this verse and think about what it meant to me in my life and in my relationship with Jesus Christ.
Do I seek Him first in everything that I do? That question has been ringing in my head.
Ladies, everyday we face challenges. They could be simple things or they could be major decisions. I think this verse is very clear that if we seek Him first, then He will provide for us. Now, let me make one thing perfectly clear. Sometimes I think we use this verse to guarantee us that God will give us what we want as long as we are seeking Him. That would be very nice however, my friend, that just isn’t true. Our priority in life should be to serve Jesus Christ and to always seek Him and HIS desires for our lives. We can pray and pray and seek and seek for whatever it is that is going on in our lives and quite frankly not get the answer we desired and that stinks. But, I go back to what I said in one of my earlier devotions and that is that God knows what is best for us. I know that it hurts sometimes when something devastating happens and we question God and ask why. But, the truth in all of this is that sometimes there just isn’t an answer to why things happen. I would love to think that once we have a relationship with the Lord everything just goes our way and that we are problem and pain free but there isn’t that guarantee in life. I do know that when we have Jesus Christ in our lives He is right there with us helping us through those rough times. And, I don’t know how we could get though them without Him and the people He places in our lives at those times.
When we seek Him first in everything I believe, with all my heart, that we will be provided for and the Lord will give us what we need. Not necessarily what we want. So, if you are seeking Him today, I pray that He will give you what you need and that He will give you the grace and strength to accept whatever it is.
