Verse of the Day

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."

~Psalm 91: 1-4

He is My Refuge

Is God your refuge? Do you feel like you are covered by his feathers and protected under his wings in your time of trouble? These verses are powerful. As we read these verses, we can sense that the writer has tremendous faith in the Lord and he BELIEVES that the Lord will protect him through all the dangers of life. There is such trust weaved through these words. You can feel that he is resting and dwelling in his Lord.

Do you have a place where you go to spend time with the Lord? I have two different locations where I like to go. I also attempt to have it quiet in the house so that I can concentrate on what I am reading and on what I am praying. I look forward to being with the Lord everyday. Being in His word and learning more about Him, the people of the bible, and myself has been amazing. There are verses that stick out that I have never seen before and the Lord has given me a better understanding of His word through my spending time with Him and seeking His wisdom. When you spend time with the Lord daily you are building trust and faith in Him and when those troubled times hit, you will know and sense immediately that He is your refuge and shelter, that He will cover you with his wings and protect you.

If you read the first sentence of this passage, you see that he uses the word dwell. To me, the word dwell means to live in. So, I am not thinking that he is talking about finding 10 minutes here and there to talk with the Lord. By dwelling, he is talking about a relationship, very much like the one you would have with your spouse. Being married is great! I love my husband very much. We are always talking and dreaming and planning life. I feel loved by him and protected by him because we are living and dwelling together. I get that picture when I think of dwelling in the shelter of the Most High. We (God and I) are talking, dreaming and planning. He doesn’t just want 10 minutes here and there. He wants your life and He wants to shelter and protect you from Satan and all the fears that you may have.

Yes, we need to take time everyday to be in God’s word, talking with Him and learning all that He has for us. Really though, we should be in a constant state of worship of our Lord. Why not make a commitment today to dwell in the shelter of the Most High? He is waiting for you and is longing to talk with you and protect you. He loves you today and I hope that you know that and feel it!

Memorize this verse today:

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."
