Verse of the Day

"Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven.""

At the Feet of Jesus

Happy New Year! It is always so exciting to have a fresh start. For the past couple of days, we have been talking about reflecting on the past year and looking towards 2010. And, we have suggested resolutions that include serving others, being kind, being more loving, and more giving to others in the New Year.

When we look at the book of Mark, we see a good example of people serving their friend. In this second chapter of Mark, we read about four men who brought a paralytic man to Jesus for healing. But, as it says early in this passage, the crowd was very large and there was no way to get to Jesus. So, these four men carried the paralytic to the roof, made an opening, and lowered their friend to Jesus.

What a great example of friends serving their loved one by going to extreme lengths to lay him at the feet of Jesus. Laying their friend the one place where they knew that he could receive complete healing.

As you think about your New Year’s resolution, remember to include serving others, giving to others, and loving others. And remember that loving and serving people oftentimes includes bringing them to Jesus, laying them at His feet, and letting Him work.

Memorize this verse today:

"Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven.""
~Mark 2:3-5
