God Will Be Near
Carved in the marble above the doorway of the home of famous psychologist and philosopher Carl Jung is the following phrase: Called or Not Called, God Will Be Near.
Do you feel lonely today? Do you feel like you are dealing with something in your life right now and no one is near? Be comforted my friends, God is near.
In the Bible, God tells us many times that He is near us during times of trouble. In Deuteronomy 31, we see the following promise that God is with you:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. (v. 6).
Similarly, we see God’s promise to be with us in Isaiah 41:
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (v. 10).
Psalm 46:1 offers a similar promise:
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
And, Jesus himself promised his disciples that He would be with them always even though He was physically leaving them. In Matthew 28, Jesus says:
And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (v. 20).
If you are feeling lonely today, please remember that God is always with you. Called or not called, God is always near. He promises us throughout the Bible that He will never leave us and that He is our strength in times of trouble. Like it says repeatedly, God will never leave us, he is ever-present, and he will be with us always to the very end of the age. That is a pretty awesome promise and one that I hope brings you strength and encouragement today. If you are feeling lonely, then call on Him today to help you through. And remember, just as it says above the door of Carl Jung’s home, God is always near. And, He is near when you call on Him and even when you don’t call on Him.
