Verse of the Day

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sins by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will."

~Ephesians 1:3-5

God's Will, Part II

Yesterday, we began our discussion of God’s will. And, we explored His moral will and His personal will for our lives. So often, we strive to know God’s will for our lives and in our decisions. How do we know God’s will for our lives? Today, we are going to focus on God’s Word and walking according to His Word and finding His will in the process.

God has given us His Word to help us in knowing what His will is for our lives. When we are in the scriptures and gaining knowledge of how we should live, his moral will can help guide us in our personal decisions. God would never tell us to go against His moral will in our personal decisions. This could pertain to many things. For example, “Should I leave my spouse for someone more spiritual?” If we are looking at making a big decision we need to ask ourselves does it go against God’s moral will, and if it does then it is not of God!

How do we know God’s moral will? We know it by getting to know Him through the Scriptures. When we read His Word and are walking in harmony or obedience with Him, then we will be thinking His thoughts and walking in His ways. When we do this, we will be able to discern His voice more easily. And, if we are not following God’s moral will, then we will have a difficult time discerning His voice. We can’t be living a life of sin and expect to hear the voice of God. God desires a relationship with us. He doesn’t want to be treated like an information center.

Throughout the Bible, we see principles that God has put in place. When we are in his Word and spending time filling and renewing our minds with his principles, we will find it easier to make the right decisions. We need to use these principles as a check and balance in our decision process. I challenge you to be in His word and to learn those principles and to be renewing your mind daily. When we are walking with the Lord and being still and quiet, we will then hear His voice and know the way we are to go in our lives.

Do you want to know God’s personal will for your life? As we learned yesterday, it begins with getting to know the Lord and having a real relationship with Him and not just using Him as an information center. Today, I urge you to get to know Him by spending time in His Word. Get to know His moral will for you and how you should live your life by reading His Word. And, by spending time reading about the principles God has put in place, you will begin walking with Him and will more easily hear His voice. Remember, His personal will for your life begins will following His moral will for you.

Memorize this verse today:

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sins by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will."
~Ephesians 1:3-5
