Today's Devotional Thought

This is a familiar Bible verse to many of us. I remember having this on a card that I kept in my Bible growing up. As I grew up, I would quote this verse over and over again. I so wanted my life to exemplify Christ.
What does it mean to lean? When I think of leaning, I think of having to trust a person or thing to hold me up.
When we think of making decisions in our life, we must think of leaning on Jesus to make those decisions. It would be very easy to draw on our own understanding or knowledge of those situations in our lives and base our decision on that. When we draw on Jesus to help with those decisions, He sees beyond what we can see and He knows what is the best decision for us to make. One of the other places, I believe we can turn to to help us make those important decisions is the wise people the Lord has placed in our lives. I have a hand full of people that I consider my inner circle and when I have important decisions to make, I go to them and I ask them to pray for me and I talk with them about the decision and the options that I have. I listen to what they have to say, I pray, and I search God’s word.
The last part of the verses today tells us to acknowledge him in all our ways and he will make our paths straight. Do you acknowledge God in every area of your life? When you do this it means that you have turned every area of your life over to Him. That is a tough thing to do!!!! Matthew 6:33 says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” We must turn to him first in every area of our life. Take a look at your priorities and your values and ask yourself what is really important? Are you really acknowledging God in every area? If you aren’t it will be those areas that will cause you grief. Take a look at your life today and ask yourself the question, “Is God at the very center of my life?” “Do I seek Him and His direction, wisdom, and guidance in every decision that I make?”
Today’s verses should be ones that we say daily. My prayer for you today is that before you do anything else you acknowledge God in your life and the importance of your relationship with Him. I pray that you spend time with Him today resting at His feet and searching for His wisdom and guidance for the day.
