Blue Skies Ahead

We had some pretty strong storms go through our area yesterday. There was a lot of wind and rain and the storm was pretty intense at times. I was driving home from the grocery store during the storm and like I often do in the car, I was listening to music and praying. At this particular time, I was praying for a dear friend and I was talking to God about some things that I just didn’t understand. And then I saw something amazing in the sky and it felt like God was speaking right to me.

As I was driving down the road, there was a huge black cloud overhead. It was from the strong storms we were experiencing and it was so dark and so heavy. And then ahead, down the road just a bit, I saw the bluest sky I had ever seen. It was breathtaking and the sun was shining and the white clouds were standing out on the bright blue sky. It was gorgeous and such a contrast from the dark, heavy storm cloud hovering above my head.

And as I was praying, I felt like God was answering my questions that I happened to be throwing at Him that morning. And, He was answering them by saying to me, “Things may look bad now, but just ahead, the storm is over and the sky is blue. Just hold on and trust me.???

I was pretty taken back by the site I was seeing: that stark contrast of heavy black storm cloud bordering a bright blue sunny sky. And, I felt God speaking to me through that beautiful site as He heard my angst and prayers that morning.

Do you have a dark cloud looming over you right now? Are you full of angst and asking God “why??? in some situation you are facing? Friends, I have learned that there are many things that happen that I don’t understand. And there are many things in life that cause me pain and heartache. But, I have also seen enough times in my life (and in the lives of others) that God is faithful and He always sees me through. While God may not always see me through a hardship with the resolution that I am looking for, He always sees me through in a way that brings me growth and a deeper relationship with Him. And, the blue skies that emerge after a life storm are always spectacular. But, I have to keep driving and keep seeking Him to find the sunshine after a storm. I saw it this morning and I have seen it in my life trials.

Sweet friends, I’m not sure what you may be facing today, but let me encourage you that the dark cloud overhead can open up into a beautiful blue sky. Press forward dear friends and grasp the blue sky that waits beyond the storm clouds. It is waiting for you and so is God.

Memorize this verse today:

"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands."
~Isaiah 55:12
