Today's Devotional Thought

God keeps his promises!!! God told Abraham and Sarah both that they would have a son. Now we are told in scripture that Sarah overheard the Lord telling Abraham this and laughed about it in her tent. Sarah was 89 years old when she was told she would have a son and honestly, well past child bearing years. She wanted to give Abraham a son more than anything, but to this point it just wasn’t happening.
Sarah had really given up hope on ever having a child and many of you know the story. She told Abraham to sleep with her servant girl Hagar and she got pregnant. But Sarah was not happy when Hagar bore Abraham a son and called him Ishmael. And then again God told Abraham that Sarah would have a son. Time passed and it happened: Sarah gave birth to Isaac.
A promise was fulfilled.
But, as we see in this story, when God told them they would have a son, Sarah took things into her own hands and manipulated the situation instead of trusting God and knowing that in his time it would come to pass. And, in doing so, made things a little tense in her home.
The lesson I learned while reading these scriptures, ladies, is that we must learn to trust what God tell us. It may not be in our time frame and it may seem like God is taking forever, but it is not our place to manipulate the situation to make things happen. God’s timing is the best timing and God knows when we are ready for what He has for us. Please don’t rush past that last sentence too quickly. Sisters, God’s timing is the best timing and God knows when we are ready for what He has for us.
In this New Year, as we seek the face of God and He reveals to us the plans He has, we must wait on Him and understand that in His timing, it will all come to be. Believe that sweet friends. Believe that.
