Today's Devotional Thought

His Strength is Perfect
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. This verse is the favorite verse of a dear friend of mine. She has been told that she has cancer. You need to know that this is not the first time. We have been in correspondence and she is scared and afraid. She is a wonderful and strong Christian woman who believes in the Lord with all her heart. She is calling on Him daily; I know she is. As you can imagine she has been very heavy on my heart and as I thought about what to do today, the Lord lead me to this verse and a song that goes with it. Many of you reading our devotions know that I love music. It is a passion of mine. And the Lord speaks to me through music in a very special way. I want to share with you the song that goes with this verse and I pray that you will look it up and learn it and sing it when finding yourself needing HIS strength.
HIS STRENGTH IS PERFECT
His strength is perfect, when our strength is gone; He’ll carry us when we can’t carry on.
Raised in His power, the weak become strong; His strength is perfect, His strength is perfect.
The song is short and sweet and puts it simply: when we can’t carry on, God is there to pick us up and carry us through. Those words bring me such comfort. You see, it’s not easy when we get bad news ourselves or bad news from someone we love. We very quickly discover that we are not in control and that there is nothing we can do to change the situation. The part I love is that when we are weak He is strong. We learn very quickly how strong we can be (because of the Lord) when we are feeling so weak.
Perhaps you are facing bad news right now in your life. Maybe you are sitting there feeling weak and sad and like you have lost all control over your life (funny part is you never had control to begin with). I wish I had these magic words that would diminish your pain and make things better. The truth is, what I can give you is the promise that when God strengthens you with his strength then you can endure. I know that it is tough. When we got the news last April that my dad had a possible brain tumor I felt like my world had caved in. I had days of feeling so very weak and sad and scared but I cried out to the Lord and much like the song said, he came and carried me through. I can promise you that HE will do that.
My heart is broken for my dear friend and I am praying for her without ceasing as she faces serious surgery very soon. I am going to visit her next weekend to spend time with her and pray with her and just love on her before surgery. I know that God is with her and that he loves her even more than I do.
Just remember sweet friends that when we are at our weakest in life, that is when we experience God’s strength in a very real way. When we are weak He is strong!
