Verse of the Day

"Fear not for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you’ and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."

~Isaiah 43:1-3

Where Are You Walking?

Where are you walking? Sounds like a funny question to open with today but when I read over today's verses I get the sense that there are many out there today who feel like they are walking through deep waters and wondering if you are going to get swallowed up, or walking through the fire and feeling like you are going to get burned. Are you gripped with fear? Do you feel alone?

What is it you are facing today? Perhaps you lost your job, maybe you are facing an addiction that you feel you can’t overcome, maybe your marriage is in trouble, or maybe you or someone you love got bad news from the doctor. These circumstances can leave us feeling very afraid and alone. The only way that we can face these fears is to face them head on with the Lord’s help and His strength. God tells us in these verses that He will be with us. Romans 8:31 says “…..If God is for us, who can be against us?” This verse gives me such reassurance and it should you as well. We can face those things that come into our lives whether they are brought on from our own sinful choices or from poor choices someone else makes that affects us.

I don’t know what you are facing in your life right now. What I know and what I have experienced and that is that God is right there walking through it with you. You just have to call on Him and ask Him and He will give you strength, encouragement, direction, guidance and peace.

Let me just say something here that I am feeling led to say to you today. I know that all these words that I have written sound very nice and you may be sitting there thinking that’s nice for someone else. I want you to know that I can say these words because I have lived them. I am not preaching today from a place of ignorance. You see, 2 years ago my life turned upside down. My husband lost his job of 8 ½ years. We were shocked and hurt by the way it all went down. We experienced a host of feelings such as betrayal, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness and the list goes on and on. I felt like we were going through the fire and that we would be burned up before we could be rescued. Those 6 months were filled with some pretty dark days and the only person that could help me was the Lord. I turned to him like never before and friends, He was there for me and He gave me all the strength, peace and encouragement I needed to face the days that were ahead. In those 2 years I honestly have faced many more dark days but I want you to know that God helped me through the waters and the fires and because of those very things I faced, I am stronger and my faith has grown in ways that are hard to put into words.

I know how some of you are feeling today and some of you are in places that I can’t even imagine. I do know that no matter what you are facing God is only a prayer a way. Call on Him today and He will come to you. He will give you exactly what you need to face your water and fire and to come through it rejoicing in Him and His faithfulness.

Memorize this verse today:

"Fear not for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you’ and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."
~Isaiah 43:1-3
