"For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

The Presence of the Lord

I have had a very full weekend and I want to share some of it with you all today. In fact, today’s devotion is going to sound a little more like a blog than a typical devotional. But, I really just want to share the contents of my heart with you all today because my heart is so very full.

This weekend, Wendy and I took a trip to visit a dear friend who is currently battling cancer. We spent the afternoon with her on Saturday and I have no words to express how precious the time we spent together was. We laughed. We cried. And we talked about everything. Her diagnosis. Her upcoming surgery. Our kids. Our churches. Our recent adventures. Our struggles and fears. And our lives.

At one point, Wendy and I sat and prayed with our precious friend. And then Wendy sang. As we held each others’ hands, I closed my eyes and just listened to Wendy sweetly sing...

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place
I can feel God’s mighty power and God’s grace
I can hear the brush of angel’s wings
I see glory on each face
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.

As she sang and tears streamed down my face, I could feel the Lord’s presence so strongly. It was a moment with my sweet sisters that I will cherish forever.

When was the last time that you felt God’s presence? Have you not felt his presence in awhile?

Take time today to sit quietly and sing softly to the Lord. And just feel his presence.

Memorize this verse today:

"For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
~Matthew 18:20
