Today's Devotional Thought
February 10, 2011 by Rachel Piferi
Wendy and I attended a local conference this past weekend where Lysa TerKeurst was the keynote speaker. Lysa is the president of Proverbs 31 Ministries and has an amazing testimony that includes redemption from a history of abuse, neglect, and numerous life trials. Throughout the weekend, she talked about various topics and I want to share one of her truths today.
At one point during the conference she shared how she tries to fill her kids up with truth each day as she sends them out into the world. Truths like….
You are loved.
You are beautiful.
God has a purpose for you.
You are a child of God.
And she emphasized how we must fill our children with these truths each day so that they can resist the world when it lies to them. Lies like…
You are unlovable.
You are ugly.
You are worthless.
You belong to no one.
As I listened to her talk, I was struck by how much we all should be filling each other with truths each day. Our children certainly need to be filled with truth. But, so do we as adults. And, if we, as believers, don’t fill each other with truths, no one else will. The world will try to tear us down and we must build each other up so that we can resist those lies when they come.
As you go through your day today, take time to build others up. Remind them that they are loved by God and by you. Remind them that they are beautiful because they have Jesus Christ inside of them. And remind them that God has a purpose for their life. Help others fight the lies of Satan and of this world by filling each other with truth today!
