Verse of the Day

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."

Peace & Comfort

Father of compassion and God of all comfort... Are there any words more precious than those? When we are hurting and feel alone, there is such comfort in knowing that our God and Father is there to provide us with the comfort and compassion we so desire. He feels our hurts and knows our troubles like no one else.

When we go through troubles and face heartache I believe some of us think of turning to God like turning to a genie. We want to wish for all the pain to go away. Oh how I wish it were that simple. It would be great to turn to God for instant relief of our pain. If that were the case we would be going to Him not because we love him and desire a relationship with Him but because we want to feel relief from our troubles instantly.

What we need to understand is that turning to God in the midst of our troubles provides us with comfort and peace that this world doesn’t know of. I love to imagine the arms of God wrapping around me as I cry into his shoulder about all the pain and trouble I am experiencing. I can hear him whispering into my ear telling me how much He loves me and how He will hold my hand through this time of pain. You see friends, I know that God loves me. I have felt Him in my life and I have seen Him work in ways that are hard to put into words. As I have matured in my faith and lived my life for him, I have learned that every time I face pain and heartache I need to run to Him as my heavenly Father and cry out to Him and give that pain to Him and allow Him to fill me with the peace and comfort that only He can give.

The scriptures go on to tell us that those of us who experience God’s comfort should go on to comfort others with the comfort we received from God. How many of us have had the opportunity to minister to others because of the pain and heartache we have gone through? I feel humbled when God uses me to minister to someone because of something I have faced. It gives me the opportunity to share his faithfulness and comfort with others and that is what this life is all about. We need to always be sharing Jesus with others.

Ladies, if you are in the midst of pain and heartache in your life right now let me urge you to run to God and allow Him to wrap His big arms around you and give you the comfort and compassion you are searching for. In return you then can share with others that same comfort that you felt and experienced from God your Father.

Memorize this verse today:

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."
~2 Corinthians 1:3-4
