He Will Not Disappoint
Have you ever had your belief in someone shattered? Ever placed love or respect on another person only to feel as if they let you down?
I am sure we’ve all done it. A spouse. A best friend. A work associate. A role model. We love and respect this other person and then they do something that leaves us hurting and our belief in them shattered. If you’ve ever experienced it, then you know how painful it can be, especially if this was someone who was very close to you.
Today, I am here to tell you that I’ve experienced it too. And unfortunately, friends, I don’t have any good advice for how to avoid being let down by people. In fact, I think as I have experienced many different relationships, I am growing to realize that people will let you down. It is a part of being human, I’m afraid. I think the challenge for us is to not get cynical and to not become an island because we are afraid of others letting us down. The challenge is to still love people, but realize that people are well, human. Everyone is selfish from time to time. Everyone makes bad decisions from time to time. And everyone will let us down from time to time.
But do you know who does not waiver? Who does not change and who does not ever let us down?
Psalm 18 tells us clearly that God is our rock and our refuge in trouble. He is our unwaivering, unchanging rock that we so desperately crave. Dear friends, don’t turn to people when you should turn to God. Humans will disappoint you, but God never will. Psalm 18 is such a powerful reminder that our reliance on God is safe and it is reliable. Read the entire chapter today and place your faith and trust in God alone. You will not be disappointed.
