Who Are You Trying to Please?
Whose approval do you seek? Who do you attempt to please in your life?
Many of us live our lives trying to please someone. Maybe it’s our spouse, our parents or our friends. In our lives, we strive to make them proud of us and in doing so, we go after the big careers or big houses or other big things in this life that can impress others. We try to do whatever we can to either impress them or make them proud.
I ask you this question though, what do we do to please God?
There are many scriptures that talk about money. I Timothy 6:10 says that money is the root of all evil. Matthew 6:21 says that where our treasure is there will our heart be. We can spend all of our life seeking the approval of people through how much money we make and how many homes we may own or other various material things, but honestly friends we can’t take it with us. And, I have found that if we make seeking people’s approval through money and things, then sadly to say, that is where our treasure (and heart) will be.
Our heart and our eyes need to be focused on Jesus. When they are, it will show those around us what is most important to us and that is our relationship with Jesus. The things that we do for HIM, now, they will last.
So let me say again: who are you trying to please? If your answer to that is people then sadly to say, and the scripture says it, you aren’t a servant of Christ.
We do not have long on this earth to reach others for Him. So I am learning to become more concerned about what we can do to please Him by serving others then spending my time seeking other’s approval.
Spend time today seeking God and asking Him what you can do today to please Him.
