Verse of the Day

"Praise the Lord, O my soul, all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."

~Psalm 103:1-5

Enough

Do you ever feel like you just aren’t enough? You know, feeling like you just aren’t doing enough, helping enough people, or being everything you need to be for everyone who depends on you?

Recently, in a moment of focusing only on my needs, I made someone I care about feel like they weren’t enough. I didn’t mean to make them feel like they just weren’t enough, but I did make them feel that way. And friends, I felt horrible afterwards. We talked through it and everything was fine in the end, but in the process of thinking about the situation, I began to think about this concept of being enough. And do you know the conclusion I came to?

No human will ever be enough.

Even the best spouse, is not enough. Even the best friend, is not enough. Even the best parent, is not enough. In fact, we were never designed to be enough for those around us. There is only One who has enough mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical reserves to be enough for us. And He is enough for everyone.

As women, we balance so many roles. And we try so hard to be there for everyone who depends on us. And sometimes, even though we realize that we can’t do it all, we still try. We expect unrealistic things out of ourselves. And even worse, we sometimes expect unrealistic things out of our fellow sisters and loved ones.

We should all extend each other a little grace and realize that none of us was ever designed to be enough for anyone else. And when we begin to feel the pressure of fulfilling many roles, we need to extend ourselves some grace and understand that only God is enough for everyone.

That is why I just love Psalm 103:1-5: Praise the Lord, O my soul, all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. God is the one who meets all of our needs, heals all of our diseases, and satisfies all of our desires. He is enough when we just can’t be.

Sweet friends, when you start feeling like you are not enough today, then just lay at the feet of the one who is and ask him to be everything that you cannot be by yourself.

Memorize this verse today:

"Praise the Lord, O my soul, all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."
~Psalm 103:1-5
