Today's Devotional Thought
July 13, 2011 by Rachel Piferi
In less than two weeks, Wendy and I will be traveling to North Carolina to attend a conference for women who are Christian speakers, writers, and ministry leaders. The conference is hosted by Proverbs 31 Ministries. Some of you may be familiar with this group of women and others may not be. But today, I just want to share with you how special this group of women is, how much they radiate the love of Christ, and how they have encouraged my heart recently.
When Wendy and I decided we were going to attend this conference, we did so because we had read about the seminars and the sessions where we could learn from established speakers. There were sessions on perfecting your message, filling yourself so that you can minister to others, among a host of other topics. There also were groups where other speakers listen to you speak and offer suggestions on your speaking style. It just sounded like a perfect opportunity to get real training in what we feel God has called us to do. But, as the conference approached and we started talking (via Facebook pages) with women who were attending, we started feeling like we were so unprepared and inferior to many of the other women going. We both started getting nervous and started doubting our call.
Ladies, we were letting Satan fill our heads with lies.
Yesterday, I received an email from one of the speakers at Proverbs 31. And, she ended the email this way: “During these final days, as you prepare your heart and your mind for She Speaks, I encourage you to leave behind any doubts or fears that Satan may have whispered in your ear in an attempt to keep you from this life-changing weekend. Before you were born God handpicked you to attend this conference. Be prepared to feel His presence in a BIG way!”
Wow. I love how God speaks through his people when Satan is whispering lies to us.
What I really wanted to share with you today is simple: if God has laid a dream on your heart, then don’t let Satan talk you out of it. Don’t let him whisper lies about your abilities or your appearance or your life that he thinks will make you stop doing what God has told you to do. In the words of Lysa TerKeurst, President of Proverbs 31, “If God said do it, then do it.” And don’t let Satan weave his way into your mind and your heart. It will only slow you down as you approach God’s best for your life.
God knew before you were even born what he had planned for you. Be prepared to feel his presence in your life in a BIG way. And don’t let anyone stop you from feeling it.
