Today's Devotional Thought

When you were a child, what did you dream about? Did you dream of becoming an actress or a doctor or a teacher or an astronaut? Did you dream of living in an exotic location or buying a sportscar or marrying Prince Charming?
Chances are, you dreamed a lot about the future when you were a child. And, some of your dreams may have come true, while others may have faded with your childhood. Have you ever noticed how optimistic and excited children are when they talk about what they dream of becoming in the future? There is such an infectious optimism in children when they talk about their dreams and how they will come true someday.
What are your dreams now? Do you even take time to dream?
In Ephesians 3, Paul reminds us that God can do anything. I like The Message’s version of this verse and that is the version that you have today: “God can do anything, you know – far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” Can you sense the optimism and excitement in this verse? Paul has just finished telling the Ephesians about the amazing things that we have received through Christ and he ends this section with this statement of how all things are possible with God. And, he gives us this extremely hopeful reminder that God can do anything, more than we can even dream of.
When you think of your dreams, then I urge you to hold on to them and pray that the Lord guides you in those dreams. Believe that all things are possible with God, even our wildest dreams. And, if you have found yourself without a dream, then I pray that you reignite that childlike fantasy within us all. Spend an afternoon daydreaming about the future and pray that the Lord would show you what you should be aiming for.
And, always remember that your God is big. So, dream big today.
