Obstacles

I am quite certain I have read today's verse numerous times when reading through the Bible, but this time it hit me hard.

My son loves to ride his bike through our small little town to get to his friend's house. I have seen him encounter various obstacles in getting there. It could be anything from dogs (we don't have a leash law in our small town so the dogs roam around) to mud puddles. He goes around them to continue on to his destination. We do the same thing if we are driving somewhere. Maybe there is a branch in the road, a dead animal, or a large rock. We are in a hurry to get where we are going so we quickly drive around it and carry on.

My question to myself this morning was what obstacles are in my way to get to Jesus, to experience the life He has promised me?

In the study I am doing by Beth Moore she talked about unbelief. Ladies, she didn't mean our not believing in God but rather do we believe Him. Do we believe the words he has written?

I want to challenge you with that today. Really think about that question.

Do we believe the words he has written?

Do you believe it when he writes that He will take care of you not just when things are good but when that terrible phone call comes or the bad diagnosis is told to you?

Do you believe it when He tells you not to fear?

Do you believe Him when he says that you have eternal life through his son Jesus Christ?

Do you believe his promises?

I have been a Christian most of my life and I would have told you in a heartbeat that I believe everything that is in the Bible, every word that has been written. Does my life show that though? Do my actions reflect that I believe everything that God has written and promised?

No they don't.

I love God with all my heart and I want to serve Him in every area of my life but truth be told I have insecurities and I have fears. If I believed every word God has written then I wouldn't allow those fears to overtake me at times and I wouldn't allow those insecurities to rule me. Those are obstacles in my life and I know that I need to work on them to overcome them with the help of my Father in Heaven.

Friends, understand that there are times when we face difficulties and we feel alone and afraid. I am not saying that in those moments we don?t believe God's promises. I am referring to when those fears and doubts overtake us and fill our minds to where we are almost paralyzed. When that happens we are facing the obstacle of unbelief.

What are the obstacles in your life that are keeping you from freedom in Christ? I dare say that we all have them and we need to be aware of them and ask God to help us remove them from our paths so we can experience a life of abundance and a life full of serving Him.

Memorize this verse today:

"Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people."
~Isaiah 57:14
