Today's Devotional Thought

Do you ever feel persecuted? I'm not talking persecution like we hear about in other countries where you get arrested, stand trial or face being beheaded or executed. I am talking about people being offended by your faith, not respecting you or your beliefs, saying you aren't tolerate or that you are judgmental.
Have you faced those things?
I have to be honest with you all today. I recently had a conversation with the Lord concerning this very subject. I was whining about how I have people in my life who I feel really don't respect what I stand for and who have severed their relationship with me because of it. I found myself grieved and even crying over comments made by people and how fast they judge me because of my faith. They can believe what they want to believe and they expect me to respect them but they don't have to respect me? How does that work???
During my whining session with God, today's verses came to mind and I found myself ashamed of my whining and complaining. I felt reminded that as I live my life for God and separate myself from the belief system of this world, people will hate me and people will persecute me. They persecuted Jesus right to the cross, so why would this world accept me, a child of His, any differently?
Friends, believe it or not there is great comfort in these words. By reading them we discover that our Lord was hated for what he taught and what his life represented. If we lived our lives gratifying our flesh and trying our best to please people in every decision and life choice then we would fit right in to the world in which we live. The problem is we don't.
We have chosen to be different, to follow God's word and his plan for our lives.
We have been chosen by God, so therefore we can find comfort in knowing that we are his and one day we will live with him for eternity.
But while on this earth we will face the hatred and persecution of so many who have made the choice to live for themselves and not God.
