Who Influenced You?
Who has influenced you most in your life?
I have been very fortunate to have many wonderful people in my life throughout the years. I have had people who influenced me in different areas and in different ways. My mom taught me to pray. Prayer was huge in our home. We would pray in the morning before we left for school, when we had to take a major test, and we would pray over events that were important in our lives. I remember as a child seeing my dad reading his Bible many, many times. The way they influenced me obviously was in the area of my relationship with the Lord and the importance of going to church and being involved, not just attending.
I had a particular pastor's wife who I would say became my other mom. I would go to her house and talk with her when I couldn't talk to my mom. She was the pastor's wife I wanted to be. She was, and is, genuine and real. Her faith and trust in the Lord have been a role model for me. She wasn't stuffy and prim and proper; she wasn't soft and quiet, but she was someone (and is someone) who loves to have a good time. She loves to think of fun things to do and she is so loyal to her family and friends. She has been through deep waters in the last couple of years and I have seen a woman stronger than any I have ever seen before emerge. She is a godly woman and I am thankful that she continues to be a part of my life.
I could not end this today without saying my husband has been a huge influence. He has been the one to show me what true ministry is. He is the most selfless person I know. He gives and gives of himself and never complains. He is always putting others first, visiting others, spending time with others in their time of pain, in their time of great need. He genuinely wants to connect with those in our congregation and to love them and encourage them. You see, he is the person in my life that makes me want to be a better person. He is such an example of Jesus to me.
Who has influenced your life? Who is the person that comes to your mind when you think of someone who has helped mold you into who you are today?
