Today's Devotional Thought

Worst is the Best
What if the worst thing that could happen to us is actually the best thing? Those were the words I heard her say and I got a lump in my throat. My mind was racing through all my fears. I began to pray and say things like, Lord please don't let this happen to my family or Lord please don't let this happen to my husband or my children.
As she spoke throughout the morning I could not get that comment out of my head.
We have been studying the sovereignty of God in our ladies Bible study at church and one of the points we talk and talk about is that God is ultimately in control and that we have to trust Him and follow Him in our lives no matter what we face. God has a beautiful way of taking the worst times of our lives and weaving good into them. It doesn't take the pain away that we experience during our heartache, but I have learned that during those dark periods we become so very desperate for our Lord and we seek Him and crave Him for healing and comfort. Rachel mentioned yesterday that we experience such an intimacy with God when we go through brokenness that we quite honestly don't experience when we are whole. There is such truth in that statement.
The worst thing in our lives friends honestly could bring us to that desperate place we need to be in order for God to do something amazing in our lives. None of us like experiencing the brokenness or the pain and suffering that we do in this life but it does bring us closer to God. One of our first devotions on After the Miracle was entitled "He is in our Tomorrows" and the thought in the devotion was that God knows where we are headed. There are no surprises. That thought alone brings me such peace because that means God walks this journey along side of me and nothing that happens to me happens to me unless He allows it.
He is with you friend no matter what is going on in your life right now He is walking with you. Never forget that!!!!
