Let Go and Grasp His Hand
What can we grasp in life that will not damage our soul? I read a devotional awhile back that asked this question.
The answer is the hand of God.
Our days are so full and so busy. We turn to so many things to find peace. We turn to our spouses, but let's face it, they are human and they will fail us. Maybe not at first, but eventually they will and any peace and security we thought we had with them or through them will be gone.
If it is not our spouses or our children we turn to, then maybe for some of us it is food, drink or friendships. We want to feel some kind of comfort, peace and security. The truth of the matter is none of those will bring us the peace we are searching for.
Friends, when we turn to God and seek His face we walk right into His presence and we also receive his peace.
The peace that passes all understanding.
And in order to truly receive God's peace, we have to relinquish control.
I mentioned in the previous paragraph that grasping God's hand is the only thing we can grasp in this life that doesn't damage our soul. And in grasping God's hand, we have to open our hand to reach for God's. And in opening our hand, we have to let go of whatever else we have been holding on to in life to bring us peace.
That is what relinquishing control is all about. Letting go to grasp God's hand and let Him then take over control in our lives.
If you are struggling today to let go and grasp God's hand, can I remind you that God tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
I absolutely love these verses because they are a reminder that God thinks and does things that we don't understand and that makes me smile because it reassures me that He has some great plans for my life and I don't have to stress about it and be in control all the time because He is!!
Grasp for His hand today friend and hold on to it. Allow Him to lead you on this journey called life. Through all the ups and downs and all those times when you don't understand. He is in control!!
