Refreshment & English Tea
A pot of Wedding blend English tea, fresh blueberry scones, a warm North Carolina afternoon sun, a beautiful garden courtyard, and rich conversation with my dear friend and sister in the Lord.
A kiss of peace from my Lord. Refreshment for my soul.
Yesterday, we mentioned in our Daily Devotion that we had traveled to a Women's Ministry Luncheon hosted by Angela Thomas. The luncheon was fantastic and we enjoyed conversation with women's ministry leaders from all over North Carolina and Virginia. It was an intimate setting and we listened to Angela share her vision for women's connection and how we need each other as we travel through life and ministry.
It was an incredible couple of hours with women who love the Lord and love serving him.
Following the luncheon, we had a little downtime before dinner. So, Wendy and I decided to attend afternoon tea at our hotel. I had never done afternoon tea like this before, but several who knew where we were staying told us that we just had to experience afternoon tea at our hotel.
Oh what an experience it was. It was an absolute blessing in my day.
As we sat in a beautiful garden courtyard enjoying tea and scones in the warm North Carolina sun, we talked about life and the Lord. The conversation meandered seamlessly from one topic to the next as it often does between BFFs. And in that rich conversation with my sister in Christ, my soul was refreshed. In the middle of a very busy season of life, God came down and kissed his daughters and reminded them that he loves them very much.
Oh how I love when God does that. It made me think of the way that Psalm 23 begins. And it came to mind as I enjoyed this moment of refreshment from the Lord:
The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
Oh sweet friends, God knows what we need when we need it. He knows we need comfort when we are scared. He knows we need protection when we are in danger. He knows we need provision when we are in need.
And he knows we need refreshment when we are weary. And he led me to that refreshment beside the quiet waters of a trickling waterfall in an English Garden courtyard in North Carolina in the Springtime.
Sweet friends, whatever it is that you need, allow the Lord to guide you there. Allow him to guide you to comfort, provision, protection, and refreshment. He promises to fulfill all your needs and he promises to lead you where you need to go. Let him lead you there and be amazed at where he takes you!
