Verse of the Day

"He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground, and fruitful land into a salt waste because of the wickedness of those who lived there. He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle. They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish."

~Psalms 107:33-38

He is God (and We are Not)

I love today's verses. These scriptures, I believe, are clear that we are weak and God is powerful. We also could say He is God and we are not.

We read here of how He displays his power. He turns rivers into desert and flowing springs into thirsty ground and fruitful lands into a salt waste because of wickedness. We then see in the next few verses the love of God displayed by the way he takes care of His people. We read that the fields and vineyards are fruitful and his people are blessed and increase in number.

Wow, this is a beautiful picture of God's provision.

Much like their lives (the Israelites), we also have times of sorrow and troubles. But even in the midst of them we can see God's provision for us and that should lead us to times of rejoicing and celebrating. Those difficult times that we face bring about maturity in our faith. If things were always good and we never had to endure hardship we would never understand how truly good God is and how he provides and blesses when we are in the pit of despair, how he comforts and gives us peace to withstand whatever it is that we are enduring. When we press on and allow God to carry us through, that is when we and others see how we have matured in our faith.

Friends, be confident in the fact that we serve a God who is powerful, a God who provides, who restores and redeems. Be thankful that we serve a God who carries us through those dark times in life which bring about spiritual maturity.

Memorize this verse today:

"He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground, and fruitful land into a salt waste because of the wickedness of those who lived there. He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle. They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish."
~Psalms 107:33-38
