Do Not Fear
Of all the emotions that we have, there is one that seems to recur throughout the Bible. And whether it is in the Old or New Testaments, we are constantly reading about God's command and reassurance that we should not fear.
In fact, did you know that fear is mentioned approximately 400 times in the Bible? And, when fear is mentioned, it is almost always preceded by the phrase "do not" or followed by a declaration of not fearing. And, every time fear is mentioned, so is the Lord.
Here are a few of the verses on fear:
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
The Lord is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?
So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can Man do to me?"
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Peter echoed this truth: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
~1 Peter 5:7
As you read through these and other verses, it is clear: God does not want us to be fearful. Fear can be crippling and can keep us from the rich relationships, activities, and callings that He has for us. And God tells us time and time again to not fear.
But, how do we do that? How do we stop fearing whatever it is that we are afraid of?
There is one consistent reason that God gives us that we should not fear. And that reason is HIM. Every time fear is mentioned, so is God. We should not be afraid because He is our helper, our comforter, our stronghold, our sustainer, and our caretaker. He is our God.
Ladies, is there anything stronger or mightier than God?
I don't know what you are facing today that has you fearful. But, let me tell you with full confidence that it is not bigger or stronger than God. Do not fear it today for God is with you.
As you find fear creeping in today, repeat the following verse boldly:
"For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." (Isaiah 41:13)
Do not be afraid ladies. Do not be afraid.
