Verse of the Day

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

~Hebrews 10:24-25

Precious Moments

What are your favorite things to do with the people you love? You know, those things that just draw you close together?

For me, I love those moments where I am sharing God with the people in my life. It’s those moments in the car when my daughter says, “Mommy, what do you think heaven is like?” Or, those moments where my husband and I look down at our youngest daughter and then glance knowingly at each other as we both reflect on how much of a miraculous gift from God she is. Or it’s those precious moments when I am sitting at my best friend’s kitchen table and we are talking over coffee with our Bibles and our hearts wide open.

Do you share God with those whom you love? Do you invite him into your relationships as an active contributor to the growth and sustenance of the relationship?

Girlfriends, I want to tell you today that the richest relationships that I have are the ones that have Jesus at the very center. There is nothing more intimate than talking with someone about how the Lord has spoken to you that day or how you believe he is calling you in some direction. When you open your heart to God and then share that open heart with another who also has an open heart to God, you will develop such a deep, meaningful relationship with that person.

As you are challenging yourself to do new things and grow in 2012, let me encourage you to invite God into your relationships. Pray together with your spouse. Ask a girlfriend to do a Bible study with you and meet weekly to discuss how the Lord is speaking to you. And more than anything, talk with your children about how you believe God is working in your family and in them.

There are many things that I enjoy doing with my loved ones. But, the times spent with them with my Bible and my heart wide open are the most precious times. They are times that are precious beyond words and they are the moments that build relationships. God wants to be an active member of your relationships. Invite him in today and watch your relationships with others deepen this year.

Memorize this verse today:

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
~Hebrews 10:24-25
