Verse of the Day

"Teach me, O LORD, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end."

~Psalm 119:33

Today's Devotional Thought

I love teaching. I have done it for almost 20 years and while most of it has been in the college realm, recently my teaching has changed to matters far more important than anything that I ever taught at a university.

I love teaching just about any age where you can get a good discussion going. I have to be honest, my gifting is not in early education. There are many people I know who have such a gift to teaching young children. That is something, I am afraid, God chose to give to others I know and not to me.

But, from about youth on up, I am your girl. I love, love, love being able to throw out a question and get good discussion going. I like to watch minds work and really dig into a concept and try to tear it apart and relate it to their lives.

Early on, that is why I loved teaching Psychology. It was so applicable to everyday life and the students that I taught just loved tearing apart concepts as much as I did. I loved watching their minds and their lives grow in the four years I would have them in college.

But as much as I loved teaching Psychology, I absolutely love teaching the Bible. You can't find me a Psychology textbook that is more relevant to human living than the Bible is. In fact, I have found that it is an endless book of learning. Every time {and girlfriends, I do mean every time}, I open up God's Word, I find something new. Depending on my state or growth or my trials at the time, I find a new nugget of truth to help me in this journey of life. This is a book that never needs a new edition or an update.

And to this teacher, there is nothing more exciting and fulfilling than teaching from the perspective of being a lifelong learner of God and his principles. And having a living textbook to go along with that lifetime learning.

I absolutely love teaching. But, I love learning more. And there is nothing I love learning about more than Jesus and all that he has for me. We should all be lifetime learners of Jesus, soaking in his teachings as we travel this journey of life. And as lifelong learners, we will make the best teachers to those whom God has for us.

There is truly no better place to learn about life than in Godís Word. I urge you to open it daily and ask God to reveal to you that one nugget of truth that he has for you as you continue to learn about him on this journey.

Memorize this verse today:

"Teach me, O LORD, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end."
~Psalm 119:33
