"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."

Solid Rock
Tomorrow is the kids' first day of school. But today, Wendy and I are spending time with our families before the craziness of the school year begins. I always look forward to the school year starting. I love school shopping and fresh notebooks and pencils, new backpacks and first-day-of-school outfits. And I love having the structure that school provides.
But as much as I look forward to a new school year each year, I also know that with the start of school comes football and baseball and piano lessons and horseback riding and homework and other events which means that life will feel a tad stressful at times. There is a part of that that I like and when I come to the end of summer, I always crave the events and programs and getting the kids involved in activities again. But there is a part of it that I know will leave me craving the laziness of summer with the long, warm uneventful evenings and sleeping in late.
Today, we are enjoying one last lazy day before school starts. And today, I want to leave you with a song that really is my mantra. Whenever life gets a little crazy and full and I feel like I just can't take one more event in my day, I play it. I am sure I will be playing it a couple of times in the coming weeks!
Enjoy and have a nice Labor Day and a safe, healthy, and productive school year!
Memorize this verse today:
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."
