Today's Devotional Thought

He Is There for You
Through communing with Me, you transfer your heavy burdens to My strong shoulders. By gazing at Me, you gain My perspective on your life. This time alone with Me is essential for unscrambling your thoughts and smoothing out the day before you.
~Jesus Calling devotional
Talking with the Lord is of utmost importance in our journey with Him. We are all faced with heavy burdens and sometimes we feel as though they will swallow us up. What we need to really grasp is that God has huge shoulders and He can handle anything that we throw on Him. He tells us in Matthew 11:28 to come to Him when we are weary and heavy laden and He will give us rest.
He wants us to come.
So go to Him. Talk with Him. And lay your burdens at His feet.
And ladies, do not pick them back up again. He can handle them so much better than we can. He knows all things, especially what is best for us. So let Him handle your burdens and rest my friend, in Him.
Keeping our focus on God is also a part of our journey. What happens to any of us if we choose to focus on our fears? They run our lives. We end up anxious, perhaps suffering from depression among many other physical ailments.
What would happen if we woke up tomorrow and made the choice to simply focus on God all day? What if in that moment we feel fear overcoming us we immediately begin praying to our Father and ask Him to dispel the fear we are feeling and to fill us with His peace?
Oh friends, this simple statement from the Jesus Calling devotional stopped me in my tracks when I read it this summer. This isn't any new concept for me but I needed reminded that my God is bigger than my mind can wrap itself around. As I spend time with my Lord daily He carries my burdens, helps me change my focus and helps me with my thoughts.
All of us need this and I encourage you today to make time for Him in your day. Allow him to carry those burdens, change your focus and help you with your thoughts. He is as close as the mention of His name.
Just call out to Him.
