Reading and Loving God's Word
"I don't study because it's boring." Those were the words that my son spoke to me as we had a conversation about how studying is what makes us smarter and also helps us achieve straight A's.
When I crawled into bed that night I started to think about his comment and how throughout our walk with the Lord many of us have told God that same thing. We wondered how studying his Word would help us in the predicament we found ourselves in at that moment. We thought of it as being boring and I believe this is because we quite simply did not understand the power we could have if we knew his Word.
And, I mean really knew it.
I want to share my heart with you today about something I am so absolutely passionate about.
That is reading and knowing God's Word.
You see, I believe with every fiber of my being that God's Word is alive and that it is filled with the answers we are all searching for, from how to raise our children, how to be godly women, how to love one another, how to live our lives in ways that will bring about joy and abundance just to name a few. God's Word is full of promises and is full of truth. We just have to get in there and study it.
I don't think there is one thing boring in the Word of God.
As we study it and ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten us we will begin to understand the words that are written on each page and how they apply to our lives and I believe it is then our responsibility to live out those words and to follow God in obedience to His Word.
I want to challenge you all to be in the Word, but don't just read it and walk away and check it off your to do list for the day. Take time with the Lord and pray and ask Him to make his Word alive to you in that moment. You will walk away from that encounter with the Lord a changed person.
Oh friends, I wish you could feel the intensity with which I am writing this. I spent years just reading God's Word because I knew I was supposed to, but in the last few years because of tough circumstances, I turned to God's Word for comfort and peace and oh my word God opened my heart and mind to His Word and I have fallen in love with it. And I have seen how through reading it and understanding it and believing it I can live a life that I didn't know existed. I have come to a greater understanding of who God is and what He has done for me and all that He has promised.
I want that for you friends, I want you to fall in love with God's Word. Take time today to read it, understand it and live it.
