Pausing Before Jesus

We are one week from Christmas and I have to say that I am so ready for Christmas day to come. I am sure many of you are like me and you have found yourself in moments of stress and hurry to get everything accomplished. And, I just want all of the preparations to be complete and to be able to just enjoy the day and spending it with people I love. It does not seem to matter how many times I tell myself to just focus on the real reason for the season, I invariably become overwhelmed with preparations at least one time before Christmas.

The truth of the matter is there are increased responsibilities at this time of year and there are more things that must get done than normal. And while I may not be getting any better at minimizing the stress, I am getting better at recognizing it when it comes and knowing what to do when it does.

With three kids and several outside of the home responsibilities, my time becomes very limited at this time of year. Please don't get me wrong...I enjoy it all immensely. But sometimes, I just need to take a moment and breathe deeply at the feet of Jesus.

That is when I found myself at church last evening, just pausing before the Lord. And, it felt so good to just sit in his presence for a moment and ask him to just wash over me. Oh how I enjoy his sweet, calming presence when life gets full.

Sweet friends, it feels so good to let him fill you up when you start feeling a bit stretched thin.

I pray that you take time to purposely pause before Jesus this week. It is so easy to get swept away in everything that has to get done. But I pray that you will make time to get swept away in the love of your Savior in the midst of the busyness.

I know it is cliche, but He is the real reason for the season and He wants to meet you in it.

Memorize this verse today:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
~Matthew 11:28
