Verse of the Day

"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

~James 1:5

Today's Devotional Thought

Let Him Ask of God

As I sit to write today's devotion, I am simply overwhelmed with emotion. It is actually Tuesday evening and I have just finished reading through I, II, and III John and have spent some time working on Beth Moore's "To Live is Christ" (a Bible Study on the life and ministry of Paul). And I sit here {typing as quickly as I possibly can and struggling to find the words big enough to convey} in awe of God.

Simply in awe.

Sometimes I feel like I cannot find the right adjectives to describe how awesome God is. I wish I had new words, new emoticons, or new colors to paint a picture of how amazing it is to serve a God who cares so intimately about me. A God who loves me more than I can even understand and who knows me even better than I know myself.

A God who knows exactly what I need to hear and shows up with the perfect words to calm my heart.

I pray you know what I mean {and if you do not know that you will someday experience for yourself} when I say that I am awed when God shows up with just the right Word at exactly the right time. When I find myself crying out for wisdom and he generously provides it as he promised (James 1:5).

This evening, I found myself crying out to the Lord for guidance and wisdom and insight into a situation that I am dealing with. And through his Word and through the words of his servant, my heart was spoken to, guided, and calmed.

And to me, that is just awesome.

Friends, are you struggling with something and you just do not know what to do? Is your heart aching over something and you just do not know how to stop the ache?

Seek God. Seek his wisdom and his direction. I promise you, and He promises you, that He will provide that direction and wisdom generously. You only need to seek him.

Read His Word. Study Scripture through Bible Studies. Pray.

And then listen.

He will speak. I promise you.

And when he does, be prepared to be overwhelmed with gratitude that he loves you so much to generously provide all that you need.

We serve an awesome God. Oh how I pray you seek him so that you can feel that today.

Memorize this verse today:

"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
~James 1:5
