Today's Devotional Thought
January 17, 2013 by Rachel Piferi
Wendy and I started After the Miracle in the fall of 2009. And for over 3 years, we have written to you nearly daily. Some days, it was easy to write as our hands penned the words of our hearts quickly and with clarity and purpose. And other days, the words were harder to come.
Today is one of those days where the words aren't coming easily.
And they aren't coming easily because of the journey that God continues to take me on. We promised when we began this site that we were going to share our journeys with you in hopes that they would encourage you on yours. And the truth of both of our journeys is that some days are harder than others. And some days are harder than others simply because you are right in the middle of a refining period.
I have a feeling that I am not alone and you know what I am talking about.
You know those days. The days where God is definitely working on something within you. You know he's working to refine a piece of your character, the refinement has not been completed, and the Lord is still working. The days where you have great trust in his gentle refinement, but also a bit of weariness from the process of growth.
By talking with him, I often can identify when he is refining a weak spot in my character. And having been through his refinement before, I have such great trust in his gentle refinement. Trust that comes from the fact that I know that he desires nothing more than for me to continue walking towards perfection, toward Christlikeness. And continue to trust him in that process.
That is where I write to you from today. A period in my life where I know that God is working and refining a key area of my character. And through the process making me trust him, and reflect him, even more.
If you are in a period of refinement, may I encourage you to trust God through it. Trust that it is wrapped in love from above. God's desire to develop His character in us comes from a place of such great love, is immersed in grace, and comes with his unending strength.
And, not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
I pray you have a wonderful Thursday. Keep growing dear friends. And keep trusting the One who is guiding that growth.
