Verse of the Day

"So that the tested genuineness of your faith - more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire - may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."

Refiner's Fire

I have been rather silent on the blog the last few months. Much of it has been related to what Rachel put up yesterday about going through refinement and how when you are going through refinement it is so hard too really talk about what God is doing in your life when you are struggling to totally understand it yourself.

I cannot really separate being a pastor's wife from how I perceive God's correction or discipline. I do feel that women look at me differently and have higher expectations on me. I often feel as though they view me as a role model for how you should live life as a godly woman. I take that very seriously and so when I see, or should I say God makes me aware of, an area of my life that I need to work on I am greatly humbled and dive into his Word and what it has to say about this area I need to work on. I say that as a pastor's wife, but truth is no matter who we are, the answer to our growth is in God's Word.

Refinement is so painful and yet it is necessary in our lives as we grow spiritually and desire to be more like Him.

Those of you who know me know that music is my love. There was a song back in the 90's I believe, that I stumbled upon and I sang it for years entitled "Refiner'sFire." Sad part is I don't believe I fully understood what the words were saying then.

Oh friends, I do now.

The second verse starts by saying "I'm learning now to trust his touch to crave the fire's embrace."

I have learned to trust his touch. I know that everything I go through is to make me more like Him. Don't get me wrong, I am not jumping up and down waiting for the fire. But I do know it is necessary for me on this journey to go through the fire because when I come out the other side I will look even more like Him.

Isn't that our desire?

That people will see Jesus in us.

Listen to the words of this song today. I pray that you will be blessed by them and that you will learn like I have to trust the Lord when the refinement comes.

Memorize this verse today:

"So that the tested genuineness of your faith - more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire - may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
~1 Peter 1:7
