He Has a Plan for Her

When you read this I will probably be on the campus of Liberty University with my soon to be high school graduate.

We will be listening to the convocation speaker...who by the way is Franklin Graham. We will be meeting with professors and touring different buildings and many more things. I am sure, though, that I will be fighting back tears as I see my daughter taking it all in and excited about where her life is going. Those tears will be mixed with sadness because I know this is the beginning of letting go, but also tears of joy and excitement in watching the plan God has for her life unfold.

I know there are moms reading this today who have been where I am and I also know there are moms out there who are right where I am. We raise our daughters and sons for this moment. We pray over them and give them to the Lord. We teach them morals and values that are based on God's Word. We teach them what it means to be godly men and women. We guide them and direct them as they engage in relationships and face tough decisions in school. We shed many tears and say many prayers over them and then one day we wake up and are visiting college campuses and buying graduation announcements, caps and gowns and senior sweatshirts.

Whew! It seems to happen overnight.

I know that God has a plan for her life. I have prayed for her since before she was born. I remember sitting in the rocking chair in her nursery holding my belly and singing to her and praying over her. My prayer for her has always been that she would fall in love with Jesus. I know that she knows who He is and what He has done for her and I know she loves Him. I pray, as I am sure you do for your children, that she will stay close to Jesus. That she will seek Him before she makes any decision in the months and years ahead.

Oh sweet friends, although I miss my sweet little curly red-headed girl, she has turned into a beautiful young woman inside and out. Today I may be shedding tears as we walk around Liberty University but honestly it is only because I am so blessed to be her mother and I am overcome with God's goodness in her life and for what I know He has for her. Jeremiah 29:11, a verse I have given to her says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Memorize this verse today:

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
~Jeremiah 29:11
