Verse of the Day

"The report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed."

Quiet Time with Him

So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

All throughout the gospels you can read about all the miraculous things that Jesus did. He was healing the sick, the blind, the deaf, demons were being cast out and the list goes on and on. You can also read where He makes a point of going someplace all alone and someplace where it was quiet so that He could spend time with the Father. Spending time with His Father is what gave Him the strength to continue on in the work that He had to do on earth. If Jesus saw this as an essential part of His relationship with God how much more should we be taking the time to spend with our Heavenly Father?

Finding time every day to be alone with the Lord is very important. If we desire to grow and mature in our relationship with the Lord, it is imperative. When we fail to communicate with the Lord we then will find that we don't really trust Him because we don't know Him. And, if we don't trust Him, then we won't follow Him either. A person who has no devotional life tends to struggle with faith and obedience. And, it all goes back to trusting someone who you have taken time to intimately know.

Let me suggest to you several ways to make your time with the Lord a little richer.
1. Schedule time with God. You must plan your time with God every day. We schedule appointments for various reasons and we mark them on our calendars because they are important to us. Why not set aside a specific time every day for the Lord.

2. Choose a special place. Pick some place that is quiet and where you won't be distracted or interrupted. This place will become very special for you and you will begin to enter it with such expectancy.

3. Try using a variety of methods. Sometimes when you use the same method everyday things can get boring. Use different devotionals; read different books or journal some days and not others. If you have a plan on reading through the Bible maybe do that for a couple of days and then switch it up some and read through some other area of the Bible. Just do different things to keep it exciting. Nothing about spending time with the Lord should be boring.

I want to encourage you today to make time for the Lord every day. It will make such a difference in every area of your life. And you will be able to truly trust him because you will truly know him.

Memorize this verse today:

"The report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed."
~Luke 5:15-16
