Cleaning with Jesus

When I am stressed, I like to clean. I don't always have time to clean when I am stressed, but I really do like to do it if I can. Partly I like it because it gets things in my environment in order when things in a situation may seem out of order. But mostly, I like it because it gives me some time to really think and process whatever may be going on.

And I have found that I can have some amazing prayer time with the Lord while I am pushing a vacuum cleaner.

How about you? Are there times in your day that you can spend with the Lord while you are doing something you have to do?

A while ago, I realized that I filled a lot of my daily tasks with background noise when I could be filling it by talking to God.

I could clean and pray for my friends.

I could exercise and pray over my day and the burdens my loved ones are facing that day.

I could drive and reflect on the ways that God has blessed me and tell him about the blessings I've seen.

Instead of television, music, or the internet, I could talk to God while I did the normal, everyday things we all have to do. And as I started to do it, I actually looked forward to those dreaded, daily tasks because I was spending them with Jesus.

I pray you find ways to talk to God throughout your day. Process your pain, your worries, your concerns, and your blessings with him as you wash dishes, fold laundry, or push a vacuum cleaner. Instead of the news, music, or entertainment, spend time with Him as you go through the mundane of your day.

I guarantee you that you will find such meaning in those activities when you do that - and you'll even get your house in order at the same time!

It is actually my plan for today...a little cleaning with Jesus. Oh how I look forward to that time with my Savior today {and a sparkly, clean house!}.

Memorize this verse today:

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
