Today's Devotional Thought
June 19, 2013 by Rachel Piferi
Last evening, Wendy and I spent several hours eating and laughing and celebrating with some dear sisters in Christ. At one point a passerby asked about the relationship of some of our members and if they were sisters and we commented, "by the blood of Christ."
We ate and laughed and told stories and laughed some more.
Our ages span several decades and our backgrounds are as diverse as our ages.
But one common, precious element binds us together.
Our love of Christ and his blood shed for each one of us.
In a few months, I will be speaking on the topic of finding our identities in Christ. And as I have begun thinking of that concept, one of the things that I am reminded of is how our identities in Christ make us relatives to those who also find their identities in Christ. You see, I am a member of God's family and his kingdom is my home. And other travelers on Earth who also claim membership in God's family and residence in his kingdom are my eternal relatives.
And oh how precious it is when I get to spend time with my eternal sisters.
I believe God smiled on us last night as he watched his daughters enjoying each others' company and celebrating each other. Through the laughter and fun, I reflected on how sweet it is to find members of my eternal family as I journey through this life.
I pray you have a community of sisters like this, members of your eternal family whom God has given you to enjoy this side of eternity. And if you don't, I pray you seek them out. I know they are out there because I have experienced it many times.
And, I can tell you where to find them.
You find them in God's house. At a Bible Study, in a Sunday School class, or in small group.
Oh how I pray you search for a group of believers who can encourage you on this journey towards our eternal home.
Wishing you all a blessed Wednesday and praying that you know the blessings of being a part of God's family today.
