Verse of the Day

"Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, 'Ananias.' And he said, 'Here I am, Lord.' And the Lord said to him, 'Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.'"

What is Keeping You from Doing that Crazy Thing?

Has God ever called you to do something crazy? So crazy that those around you are pretty sure that you have lost your mind?

In Acts 9:10-16 we are introduced to a man by the name of Ananias. Earlier in Acts 9, we see that Saul from Tarsus meets Jesus on the road to Damascus, a road which was to lead him to persecute and execute Christians. In that encounter, Saul comes to know who Jesus is. Later, in verses 10-16 we see God telling Ananias to go and talk with Saul.

Now that is pretty crazy if all the knowledge you have on Saul from Tarsus is that he is a persecutor and killer of Christians of which you are.

Ananias appears to inform the Lord of this...just in case he didn't already know.

However, Ananias didn't win. And you know why?

Ananias had fully surrendered his life to the Lord and was willing to be obedient even in this crazy thing. Now, truth be told, Ananias didn't know what Saul would do when he got there. But the Lord had told Ananias that Saul was a chosen instrument of His.

Trust. Ananias trusted God and stepped out.

What holds us back from doing crazy things?

That is the question I have been asking myself recently. There are things that I know God is calling me to and yet I am so hesitant. I find myself, at times, saying that surely there is someone else more qualified, that my time is so limited, and I don't want to take away from my family or other responsibilities in my life.

All seem like pretty good arguments right?

Wrong...because the Lord whispers into my ear and tells me to be obedient. Period.

When we step out in faith and obedience and do the things that we KNOW God is calling us to we will be blessed beyond what we ever could have imagined. And all those arguments I have with the Lord…I am finding he stretches time for me to get those other responsibilities done, he equips me with exactly what I need to do whatever it is he has called me to, and my family will be so much better because their mama/wife is stepping out and doing God's plans not her own.

I guess I have written this in a way that preaches to me (because I need to hear it over and over again), but girlfriends it absolutely applies to you as well. Surrender everything to the Lord and follow Him in obedience. Do that crazy thing He is calling you to. Don't sit on the sidelines of life and wonder what if I would have stepped out?

My husband tells us all the time...live life with no regrets and today I am saying that to you. Live life with no regrets, and be radically obedient in this life He has given you.

Memorize this verse today:

"Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, 'Ananias.' And he said, 'Here I am, Lord.' And the Lord said to him, 'Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.'"
