Today's Devotional Thought

There are a lot of things that can leave me speechless.
A beautiful sunset.
An unexpected gift.
A hurt so deep that cannot even be articulated.
Good and bad, there are many things in this life that leave me speechless. And, in those speechless moments, it is like I want to be able to articulate my heart, but I just can't.
Ever been there?
Maybe you wanted to share with someone else how you appreciated their gift, but you just couldn't get it out.
Maybe you wanted to call a friend and share how your heart was hurting, but you just couldn't find the words that would help them understand.
Maybe you wanted to thank God for something he blessed you with, but you found yourself without the words to properly express yourself.
Or maybe you wanted to cry out to God for help, but you didn't even know what you needed.
That is when I love Romans 8:26: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
I had a Spirit groaning kind of day yesterday and I was so glad that at the end of it, I could just close myself up in my prayer closet and let the Holy Spirit groan for me. There was a lot that my heart wanted to express to God – I could feel it laying heavy on me – but I just didn't have the words or even understanding of it to properly pray for myself. And that is when I just got the beautiful picture of the Holy Spirit interceding for me and advocating for me in a way that I didn't even know how to do.
Such a beautiful picture of our Mighty Counselor and Prince of Peace working on our behalf.
If you have days where you cannot articulate yourself well to others or even to God, please rest assured that the Holy Spirit will be your intercessor and your advocate. He will express your heart to your Heavenly Father when you cannot.
And you can trust in his intercession and will feel strengthened by it.
