Verse of the Day

"So let's do it - full of belief, confident that we're presentable inside and out. Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word."

~Hebrews 10:22-23 (MSG)

Hope

Isabella climbed up in my lap last night before bed and just snuggled in. She is still the perfect size to curl up and fit snuggly on my lap with my arms wrapped around her. As she closed her eyes, I rested my chin upon her head and closed mine. My heart felt like it was going to burst as I held her. Oh it truly seems like just yesterday that I could do this with my teenager, so I wanted to hold her as long as she would stay.

I have certainly learned to cherish these fleeting moments.

While snuggling with all of my kids was precious {when they would do it}, there is something about Isabella climbing up and holding on that nearly un-does me. It is almost as if I am holding on to a living, breathing representation of God's hope.

As I held her and she drifted off to sleep, my mind began to wander to all of the concerns that are plaguing my heart right now. And as her hair tickled my cheek, I began to reflect on God's faithfulness to me and I began to slowly release those things to my faithful God. It is so hard to hold Isabella and not feel God's faithfulness.

To not feel hope.

And in the quiet of the evening, my eyes filled up with tears as I held firm to that hope.

I don't know what you may be going through right now, but I am sure someone out there needs to be reminded of the hope we have in Jesus. In fact, I want to remind you of Hebrews 10:23: "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful."

Do you profess hope in Jesus Christ?

Do you profess that you have hope beyond this fallen world because of his death and resurrection?

Beyond the trial you are going through...Beyond the pain you may feel right now...Beyond the suffering you are experiencing...do you profess that you have hope?

Then beloved friend, hold unswervingly to it!

I love how The Message version puts verses 22 and 23:

"So let's do it - full of belief, confident that we're presentable inside and out. Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word."

Don't you just love that version? I love the casual command to just "get going and do it." To be full of belief, full of confidence, and firmly grasping those promises that keep us going.

Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going, okay?

Let's keep a firm grip on that hope...Because God always keeps his word. He is truly faithful to protect, guide, comfort, save, and redeem us right out of this fallen world someday.

And oh how that gives me such hope!

My grip on Isabella was firm last night and as my tears landed on the top of her hair and my mind wandered, I remembered that God is faithful. That his promises are true. And that I have great hope despite any present circumstance.

So let's do it today, okay? Let's keep firm our grip on those promises that keep us going!

My grip on Isabella was strong last night, but my grip on the hope that I profess was even stronger.

Remember, God always keeps his word!

So, let's do this thing today! Full of confidence. Full of hope.

Memorize this verse today:

"So let's do it - full of belief, confident that we're presentable inside and out. Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word."
~Hebrews 10:22-23 (MSG)
