Verse of the Day

"God can do anything you know - far more than you can even imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams."

~Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)

Today's Devotional Thought

January 06, 2015 by Rachel Piferi

Every now and again, I get this wave of emotion coupled with mind-blowing awe of God and how he has turned my family's life upside down in the last 7 years. The end of 2014 was a crazy, full month of experiences that I could never have seen coming in a million years. And I sit here at the beginning of 2015 so in awe of God.

My life verse is Ephesians 3:20 and it seems like I have been living it BIG TIME lately. I want to share it with you today. I am a bit partial to it in the Message version:

God can do anything you know - far more than you can even imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams.

It's my life verse because it really is my life.

I turned 40 a little over a month ago and there is something about turning 40 that just makes one particularly emotional and reflective. And as I reflect on what God has done in my first 40 years, I am simply awed.

You see, my life at 40 is NOTHING like I would have ever imagined when I was younger. In fact, in my 20s, I had my ideas of what my life would be like by 40. Like many of you, I set goals that I would reach by 40. I would be to a certain point in my career. I would be to a certain point with our family. We would be a certain point financially. I am sure I'm not alone in my "planning."

And do you know the crazy thing?

None of my 20-year old goals included living off a dirt road, in a small country town, teaching Bible study to some of the most precious women I have ever met. I never once jotted down that I would help teens understand who they are in Jesus or spend hours learning God's Word to teach it to others. I never imagined I would stand in churches or on various stages talking about a miracle that God brought us.

I never thought I'd have a blog entitled, "After the Miracle."

No. My plans and dreams looked vastly different.

And, they were so very meaningless compared to the dream that God had for me.

God's dreams for me included miracles and moves to the country and molding me into a woman who would best reflect his plans and his dreams, not my own.

Last month, I had the opportunity to go to a Christmas tea in the home of an author and speaker whom I have adored for years. And as I sat in her home and chatted with her and other women, I was flooded with such awe of God. As I listened to stories and how God works, I just was amazed at how God knew exactly what my life was going to look like at 40. You see, he knew what my soul needed. He knew what I was designed for and what my soul craved and what would bring my soul the most contentment in this life.

His dreams.

Not mine.

In about 10 days, we will embark on another God dream. A dream that God prepared in our hearts some time ago and one that I never saw coming!

On Friday night, January 16th, at 7pm Wendy & I will be introducing the {BE}GATHERING to our community. And basically, we are going to open the doors of our small country church to any woman who would like to come in and sit awhile in the presence of Jesus. We will sing. We will talk. We will open God's Word and share important truths that have mattered most to us. And hopefully, two hours later, we will all leave knowing that we have been in the presence of the Lord. We will be filled with God's truths and his spirit. And, we will all leave strengthened and encouraged to journey another day.

If you are anywhere near Sedley, Virginia and Sedley Baptist Church on Friday night, January 16th, we would love for you to stop by. Dress will be casual and the agenda is simple: come ready to hear from the Lord.

God has done some crazy things in my life and in Wendy's life so far. And we desire nothing more than to share the Jesus we know with other women. We have found such hope in his truths and we just can't help but share them! We cannot wait to talk about him on the 16th, to rest in his presence, to praise his name, and to fellowship with other women.

If you would like more information on the {BE}GATHERING, please check out .

We would love to see you there and remember sweet friends, God can do anything you know...far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!!

Memorize this verse today:

"God can do anything you know - far more than you can even imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams."
