God's Plan for Today

I am a planner. My week looks something like this. Monday's are my husband's day off so we spend the day together. Tuesday is when Rachel and I spend time preparing for Women's Bible Study. Wednesday is usually the day I do some laundry and run errands. Thursday we have our women's morning Bible study and then I am off to the bank and to do my grocery shopping. Friday is a free day. I usually catch up on laundry and clean and then if I have any time left over in the afternoon I like to spend some time reading. So as you can see I like my week to be all nice and planned out.

The reality of my life is that very few weeks unfold like that. I can schedule out my time and have it all written on my calendar and tell everyone this is what mama's week looks like but...The Lord determines my steps.

Most of us like to think that we have some sort of control over what our day looks like. I use to pride myself in the fact that I could squeeze a lot into a day and feel so accomplished at the end of it, especially when I was a young mom. The older I have gotten I have come to realize that my day will unfold the way God has planned it to and the sense of accomplishment then will feel one hundred times better.

Ladies, many of us like to have our lives all planned out, nice and neat. Our houses all clean, laundry washed and put away, bills paid, meals cooked, phone calls made and groceries bought. But can I ask you something? What have you done with Jesus today or yesterday? Have you stopped in your day to write a note to someone or send an email? Have you picked up the phone and called someone to check on them? Have you gone to lunch with someone who needs encouragement and prayer? How about simply taking time to be still before the Lord and asking Him what it is He wants you to do today?

Oh, trust me sweet friends I like my life to be nice and neat and organized but I know that at the end of this journey God isn't going to congratulate me on the fact that my house was clean and my laundry smelled good. He is going to ask me what I did with Jesus.

God has a plan for your day today and I am pretty sure that it is going to be different than the one you have. Why not start your day asking the Lord to guide your steps? Ask Him to lead you to the people He wants you to shine his love to. You will get all those things done that you want to they just may not happen when you want them to but God has important work for you today embrace it friends!

Memorize this verse today:

"We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps."
